| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of
Edward John Sindles, Sr. of Ingleside, |
| 4 |
| who passed away on August 23, 2009; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Edward Sindles, Sr. was born on August 19, 1936, |
| 6 |
| in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, where he lived throughout his |
| 7 |
| teenage years before moving to Illinois in 1945; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Edward Sindles, Sr. worked at various jobs before |
| 9 |
| finding his true calling in law enforcement; he served the |
| 10 |
| Village of Mundelein as a police officer for 20 years until his |
| 11 |
| retirement at the rank of Lieutenant; after leaving Mundelein, |
| 12 |
| he worked for the Lake County Sheriff's Department and was |
| 13 |
| instrumental in the construction and policy and procedure |
| 14 |
| creation of the department's new jail; he served as Chief of |
| 15 |
| Police for the Round Lake Beach Police Department for 9 years |
| 16 |
| until his retirement after 37 years in law enforcement; he also |
| 17 |
| served as Chief of Police for 7 years in Hawthorn Woods and |
| 18 |
| taught numerous criminal justice courses at the College of Lake |
| 19 |
| County from 1975 to 2003; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Edward Sindles, Sr. earned his master's degree in |
| 21 |
| criminal justice at the University of Illinois; and
