| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 |
| learn of the death of
Nathan Ramis, who passed away on November |
4 |
| 24, 2009; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Nathan Ramis was born and raised on the West Side |
6 |
| of Chicago; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, Nathan Ramis was employed with the Civilian |
8 |
| Conservation Corps, performing various jobs within America’s |
9 |
| national parks; during World War II, he was employed in a B-29 |
10 |
| assembly plant; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, Nathan Ramis operated the Ace Food & Liquor Mart |
12 |
| in Chicago for many years before moving the store and his |
13 |
| family to the Rogers Park area in 1955; in the 1960s, he sold |
14 |
| the grocery store and entered the scrap-metal business before |
15 |
| moving to the Village of Northbrook; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, Nathan Ramis enjoyed sports betting, reading, and |
17 |
| good comedy; and |
18 |
| WHEREAS, Nathan Ramis was preceded in death by his beloved |
19 |
| wife, Ruth; and
