SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3
learn of the death of Dr. Richard Rovner of Chicago, who passed 
4
away on November 27, 2009; and
  
 
5
    WHEREAS, He  was born in Niagara Falls, New York on 
6
September 28, 1931, to the late Dr. Beril and Ruby Rovner; and
  
 
7
    WHEREAS, He served for 35 years as an Associate Professor 
8
of Neurology at Northwestern University Medical School and 
9
taught neurology at Northwestern and The Rehabilitation 
10
Institute of Chicago, where he was Chief of Staff from 1972 to 
11
1974; Dr. Rovner was Associate Professor of Neurology at Rush 
12
University Medical School from 1999 to July 2009, and at the 
13
time of his passing was Professor Emeritus; and
  
 
14
    WHEREAS, Dr. Rovner was a co-founder and board member of 
15
the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago; and
 
16
    WHEREAS, Dr. Rovner was cherished by legions of patients; 
17
and

  
 
18
    WHEREAS, Dr. Richard N. Rovner was the adored husband of 
19
Judge Ilana Diamond Rovner; the beloved father of Maxwell; the 
20
loving brother of Barbara Flaxman (Harry); the brother-in-law

of Ellis (Bonnie); the fond uncle to two nieces and two 
2
nephews; and the devoted owner of Jack the cat; therefore, be 
3
it

    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL 
5
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
6
his family and friends, the passing of Dr. Richard Rovner; and 
7
be it further
  
 
8
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9
presented to the family of Dr. Richard Rovner as a symbol of 
10
our sincere sympathy.
