SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Douglas Alan Brignall of Bartonville, who
4 passed away on December 8, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Douglas Alan Brignall was born June 6, 1953, in
6 Canton, to George and Zelda Fawcett Brignall; and
 
7     WHEREAS, He was an Illinois Air National Guard veteran,
8 serving from 1971 to 1977; he worked at Caterpillar Inc. for
9 four years before joining the Peoria Fire Department on May 23,
10 1977; he retired from the Peoria Fire Department as a Battalion
11 Chief on June 6, 2009, after 32 years of service; he was the
12 primary author of the Peoria Fire Department history book,
13 "Peoria Firefighters, A Proud History"; he was a member of the
14 Bartonville Volunteer Fire Department for many years, and he
15 served as the fire chief for the Limestone Fire District for
16 one year; and
 
17     WHEREAS, He was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and the
18 Chicago Bears; he enjoyed fishing at the family retreat at Star
19 Lake in Minnesota with family and friends and also enjoyed high
20 school and college basketball; and
 
21     WHEREAS, Douglas was preceded in death by his father and

1 both sets of grandparents; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Douglas Brignall is survived by his mother, Zelda
3 Brignall; his son, Doug Closen; his daughter, Breanna Brignall;
4 his daughter, Gwendolyn Brignall; his son, Liam Brignall; his
5 grandson, Jordan Closen; his brother, Steven (Mi) Brignall; his
6 sister, Georgia (Kevin) Mason; his nieces, Elizabeth Brignall,
7 Jessica Mason, and Jennifer Mason; and his nephew, Joseph
8 Brignall; therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11 his family and friends, the passing of Douglas Brignall; and be
12 it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of Douglas Brignall as a symbol of our
15 sincere sympathy.
