| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 |
| learn of the death of Andrew "Carl" Cepon of Gurnee, who passed |
4 |
| away on December 10, 2009; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Andrew Cepon was born in Waukegan on April 4, |
6 |
| 1938; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, Carl attended Notre Dame University and was past |
8 |
| President of the North Chicago Lions Club, Waukegan Knights of |
9 |
| Columbus, past member of the Village of Gurnee Zoning and |
10 |
| Planning Committee, member of St. Anne's Society, and K.S.K.J.; |
11 |
| and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, Carl was known for his great love of socializing |
13 |
| and humor; he was an avid sports fan, especially the Chicago |
14 |
| White Sox and Green Bay Packers; he was married to his high |
15 |
| school sweetheart and they celebrated their 50th wedding |
16 |
| anniversary on November 28, 2009; and |
17 |
| WHEREAS, He and his father owned the former Cepon's Food |
18 |
| Mart on 10th Street in Waukegan; he also worked at OMC and |
19 |
| Compacted Metals; and
|
20 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew F. |
|

| (Curly) Cepon; his mother, Mary (Drobnic) Cepon; his sister, |

| Delores (Dolly) Patronik and her husband, Pat Patronik; and his |

| WHEREAS, Carl cherished his long standing childhood |
5 |
| relations with his friends, Dr. Edward Sarsha, Dick Wirtanen, |
6 |
| and Ken Nordstrom; he is survived by his wife, JoAnn (Fagan) |
7 |
| Cepon; his son, Andrew Cepon and his longtime companion, |
8 |
| Margaret Liu; his daughters, Carol (Mark) Panyard and Jeanine |
9 |
| Cepon and her companion, Wayne Geier; his six grandchildren, |
10 |
| Joe Simanski, Colin and Cara Panyard, Rachael, Michael, and |
11 |
| Miles Canevello; his two great-grandchildren, Marques and |
12 |
| Aidyn Canevello; his nephews, Danny, Jay, and Michael Patronik |
13 |
| and Mary Wood; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL |
15 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
16 |
| his family and friends, the passing of Andrew Cepon; and be it |
17 |
| further
|

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
19 |
| presented to the family of Andrew Cepon as a symbol of our |
20 |
| sincere sympathy.
