| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of Anton John Valukas; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, Anton Valukas had a long and distinguished career |
| 5 |
| in law; he began his law career as an attorney for the |
| 6 |
| Commercial Union Insurance Company, where he worked for 38 |
| 7 |
| years; he also managed his own law office; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, In 1981, Anton Valukas was appointed to serve in |
| 9 |
| the Cook County Circuit Court; he served as a supervising judge |
| 10 |
| of pretrial services and was the head of pretrial mediation |
| 11 |
| from 1987 until his retirement from the bench in 1993; |
| 12 |
| following his retirement, he began a new career handling |
| 13 |
| private mediation; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Anton Valukas served as the Illinois Supreme Court |
| 15 |
| ADR coordinating committee vice chair from 1990 to 1994; he was |
| 16 |
| also a regular lecturer at John Marshall Law School, the Kent |
| 17 |
| College of Law, and the Judicial College in Reno, Nevada; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Anton Valukas is survived by his wife, Miki, whom |
| 19 |
| he married on May 24, 1970; his sons, Anton R. Valukas, James |
| 20 |
| Valukas, and Shawn Valukas; his daughter, Linda Blum; his 8 |
| 21 |
| grandchildren; and his 10 great-grandchildren; therefore, be |
