| SENATE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Unused and unwanted consumer pharmaceuticals have |
| 3 |
| a negative impact on public health and the environment; the |
| 4 |
| lack of effective and efficient methods of drug disposal has |
| 5 |
| resulted in unwelcome social, cultural, ecological, and global |
| 6 |
| effects; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, The theft and social use, misuse, and abuse of |
| 8 |
| pharmaceuticals by teenagers, adults, and older adults has |
| 9 |
| increased; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Increasing polypharmacy, non-adherence to |
| 11 |
| prescriptions, and medication errors all contribute to |
| 12 |
| accumulation of drugs and poor patient outcomes; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Potential deleterious effects on wildlife and |
| 14 |
| humans due to drug disposition in surface and ground waters are |
| 15 |
| a result of improper disposal; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, Unused medications represent wasted health care |
| 17 |
| dollars to consumers, insurance carriers, and taxpayers alike; |
| 18 |
| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL |
