2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Kenneth Frank Lindgren of Aurora, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on December 12, 2009; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Kenneth Lindgren was born on September 14, 1940, | ||||||
6 | in Indianapolis, Indiana; his parents were Robert and Jennie | ||||||
7 | Lindgren; he married Hedy Kay, nee Schwabe, Lindgren on June | ||||||
8 | 29, 1963, in Aurora; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Kenneth Lindgren grew up in Glenview and moved to | ||||||
10 | Aurora in 1949; he graduated from West Aurora High School in | ||||||
11 | 1958 and earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering | ||||||
12 | from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana in 1963; | ||||||
13 | and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, After graduating from college, Kenneth Lindgren | ||||||
15 | went to work for Lockheed Missiles and Space Company, Inc. in | ||||||
16 | Sunnyvale, California and Allis Chalmers in Harvey; he then | ||||||
17 | went to work at his father's business, DACO Incorporated, in | ||||||
18 | 1967, where he spent the rest of his professional career; after | ||||||
19 | his father's retirement, Ken rose to the position of | ||||||
20 | CEO/President, where he expanded the business substantially | ||||||
21 | through the acquisition of their largest customer, | ||||||
22 | Caterpillar; thanks to his inspired leadership, DACO continues |

1 | to be a world class manufacturer for Caterpillar and other | ||||||
2 | large equipment manufacturers; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Kenneth Lindgren was a leader in the Aurora Family | ||||||
4 | YMCA and was a member of the Board of Trustees for its | ||||||
5 | successor, the Heritage YMCA Group; he served on the Board of | ||||||
6 | Directors of the Old Second National Bank until his passing; he | ||||||
7 | was a member, leader, and participant in many activities of the | ||||||
8 | New England Congregational Church in Aurora; he was a Big | ||||||
9 | Brother with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Southern Kane & | ||||||
10 | Kendall Counties; he was also a member and past board member of | ||||||
11 | the Aurora Country Club and a member of the Porsche Car Club of | ||||||
12 | America; and | ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Kenneth Lindgren was an avid golfer and enjoyed | ||||||
14 | playing with his golf friends; he also enjoyed amateur car | ||||||
15 | racing, cars, skiing, spending time with his family and | ||||||
16 | friends, and doing various activities with the ROMEO group | ||||||
17 | (Retired Old Men Eating Out); and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Kenneth Lindgren was preceded in death by his | ||||||
19 | parents and his father and mother-in-law, Herbert and Ida | ||||||
20 | Schwabe; and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Kenneth Lindgren is survived by his wife, Hedy Kay | ||||||
22 | Lindgren; his sons, Stephen Frank (Sarah) Lindgren and Brian |

1 | Kenneth Lindgren; his grandchildren, Michael Lindgren, Grace | ||||||
2 | Lindgren, Hannah Lindgren, and Charlotte Lindgren; his | ||||||
3 | siblings, Janice (John) Sargent, Ellen (Ron) Kramer, Robert | ||||||
4 | (Carolyn) Lindgren, and Bruce (Meredith) Lindgren; and his many | ||||||
5 | nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
| ||||||
6 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | ||||||
7 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
8 | his family and friends, the passing of Kenneth Frank Lindgren; | ||||||
9 | and be it further
| ||||||
10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
11 | presented to the family of Kenneth Lindgren as an expression of | ||||||
12 | our sympathy.
