| SENATE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans has been |
| 3 |
| established in Illinois as an Illinois not-for-profit |
| 4 |
| corporation and has been designated a 501(c)(3) charitable |
| 5 |
| organization by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, That organization's mission is to provide |
| 7 |
| transitional services to homeless and disabled veterans of the |
| 8 |
| United States military so that they can return to useful and |
| 9 |
| productive lives; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, There is an obvious and growing need for such a |
| 11 |
| facility for veterans now returning from the conflicts in Iraq |
| 12 |
| and Afghanistan; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, The Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans has been |
| 14 |
| providing essential services to veterans at its location in |
| 15 |
| Wheaton, Illinois since January of 2007; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate recognize that |
| 17 |
| the State has a responsibility to its homeless and disabled |
| 18 |
| citizens who have served, and will be serving, in the United |
| 19 |
| States military services; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL |
