SENATE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3
learn of the death of
Dorothy M. Burns, who passed away on 
4
February 12, 2010; and
  
 
5
    WHEREAS, Dorothy Burns was born on March 28, 1942; her 
6
parents were Lily Baker and Roosevelt Barrow; and
  
 
7
    WHEREAS, In her early years, Dorothy Burns married Depholia 
8
Roberts; to their union, 3 children were born; and
  
 
9
    WHEREAS, In 1966, Dorothy Burns met James Burns; Dorothy 
10
and James were married on March 28, 1968; to their union, 3 
11
children were born; and
  
 
12
    WHEREAS, Dorothy Burns is survived by her loving husband of 
13
42 years, James; her children, Richard Barrow, Yolanda 
14
(Clinton) Rice, Depholia (Leslie) Burns, Velvet (Robert) 
15
Hudson, Tyrone Burns, and Katrina; her grandchildren, Michael 
16
(Erica), Santanna, Johnathan, Marcus, James, Carol, and 
17
DeAndre; her siblings, Willie (Lou) Barrow, Preston (Georgia) 
18
Barrow, Maudie (Eugene) Barrow, Lucille Townes, Bernie (Sonny) 
19
Barrow, and Cynthia (Sue) Barrow; and her many aunts, uncles, 
20
nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends; and

    WHEREAS, Dorothy Burns will be remembered by all who knew 
2
and loved her as a loving and devoted wife and mother; 
3
therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL 
5
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
6
her family and friends, the passing of Dorothy M. Burns; and be 
7
it further
  
 
8
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9
presented to the family of Dorothy Burns as an expression of 
10
our sympathy.
