| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply |
| 3 |
| concerned about the impact of unemployment on the citizens of |
| 4 |
| the State of Illinois; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, There are over 15,000 Illinoisans whose |
| 6 |
| unemployment benefits ended on March 1, 2010 when the United |
| 7 |
| States Senate and United States House of Representatives did |
| 8 |
| not pass an extension; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, The latest statistics from the United States |
| 10 |
| Department of Labor show that Illinois has an unemployment rate |
| 11 |
| of 11.1%; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, During these tough economic times, qualified |
| 13 |
| people cannot find work because many businesses are not hiring |
| 14 |
| and the pool of candidates is too large; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Unemployment does not just effect the person who |
| 16 |
| has been laid off, but it affects families as well, forcing |
| 17 |
| them to not only exhaust their savings, but also forces them to |
| 18 |
| rely on credit to pay bills; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, During this economic crisis, these extended |
| 20 |
| benefits have been the lifeline allowing people to continue to |
