| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |

| learn of the death of
Ron "Papa" Schaper of New Lenox, who |
| 4 |
| passed away on February 14, 2010; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Ron Schaper founded the New Lenox Mustangs youth |
| 6 |
| football program in 1964; as the team's heavyweight division |
| 7 |
| coach, he enjoyed his 500th win in the 2009 season and his |
| 8 |
| teams captured 7 national championships; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Ron Schaper owned and operated Sentry Hardware on |
| 10 |
| U.S. Route 30 until a fire destroyed the building in 2001; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Ron Schaper was a volunteer on New Lenox TV for |
| 12 |
| many years and was known for announcing Lincoln-Way Central |
| 13 |
| High School football games; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Ron Schaper was a former New Lenox Chamber of |
| 15 |
| Commerce Citizen of the Year and was inducted into the Joliet |
| 16 |
| Area Sports Hall of Fame in 2005; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Ron Schaper raised Shar-Pei puppies and was known |
| 18 |
| for organizing cruise trips for his friends; and |
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, Ron Schaper is survived by his wife, Jan; his son, |
