SENATE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3
learn of the death of Mary Ellyn Mathews of Peoria, who passed 
4
away on February 24, 2010; and
  
 
5
    WHEREAS, She was born in New York City on August 13, 1936, 
6
to Ned and Madeleine Griffin Shnayerson; she married Thomas 
7
"Tom" McIntyre in Peoria on April 29, 1979; and
  
 
8
    WHEREAS, Mary was a member of the Anshai Emeth Congregation 
9
in Peoria, was the past president of the Moss-Bradley 
10
Residential Association, was on the State and Peoria boards of 
11
the American Civil Liberties Union, and was the first recipient 
12
of the David Citron Award; and
  
 
13
    WHEREAS, She was proud to be one of the early volunteers 
14
for the Women's Crises Line, which became Tri-County Women's 
15
Strength; and
  
 
16
    WHEREAS, She loved to travel but most of all loved 
17
gardening; and
  
 
18
    WHEREAS, Mary Mathews is survived by her husband, Thomas; 
19
her children, Ned (Cecilia) Garcia-Mathews, Eric Isslehardt, 
20
Ronald Broers, Kelly (Bill) Mathews, and Ted (Diane) Mathews

III; her brother, Robert Shnayerson; her six grandchildren; and

her uncle, Robert Shnayerson; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL

ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
5
her family and friends, the passing of Mary Mathews; and be it 
6
further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8
presented to the family of Mary Mathews as a symbol of our 
9
sincere sympathy.
