SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3
learn of the death of
Sanford Z. Patlak of Lansing, who passed 
4
on March 7, 2010; and
  
 
5
    WHEREAS, Sanford Patlak graduated from the University of 
6
Illinois in Chicago; and
  
 
7
    WHEREAS, Sanford Patlak was employed as a teacher and 
8
varsity soccer and basketball coach for U-High Lab for 37 
9
years; he also coached womens soccer at Prairie State College 
10
and boys soccer at Marion Catholic High School; and
  
 
11
    WHEREAS, Sanford Patlak was a Past President of the 
12
Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association; he was 
13
designated Coach of the Year in 1974 and Soccer Man of the Year 
14
in 1980 and 1990; he was also inducted into the Wall of Fame at 
15
Toyota Park in Bridgeview and the Illinois Soccer Hall of Fame 
16
in Springfield; and
  
 
17
    WHEREAS, Sanford Patlak served his country with pride and 
18
distinction as a member of the United States Merchant Marine; 
19
he also served the Director of the Dolton ESDA; and
  
 
20
    WHEREAS, Sanford Patlak is survived by his daughters,

Pamela Patlak, Leanne Patlak and Sally (Greg) Firrantello; his 
2
grandchildren, Nick, Jake, and Tony; and the mother of his 
3
children, Joyce Patlak; and
 
4
    WHEREAS, Sanford Patlak will be remembered by all who knew 
5
and loved him as a wonderful man who mentored the many people 
6
he coached; therefore, be it
  
 
7
    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL 
8
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
9
his family and friends, the passing of Sanford Z. Patlak; and 
10
be it further
  
 
11
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12
presented to the family of Sanford Patlak as an expression of 
13
our sympathy.
