SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Bill Hammond of Westmont, who passed away on March 10, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Bill Hammond was born June 19, 1931; he was a 20 year United States Air Force retiree; he served the last four years of duty as a main United States Air Force Recruiter for the western suburbs of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, He married his wife, Joyce Hammond, at Barksdale Air Force Base in 1954; he met Joyce in England while serving in the Air Force; he was also retired from Continental Bank of Chicago, where he had a second career of Professional Placement Recruiter, and worked as the first Personnel Manager of Little Friends, Inc. of Naperville and Downers Grove; and

WHEREAS, He completely retired in 1993; he enjoyed traveling, Cubs baseball, and Bears football; he also enjoyed his grandchildren and was active in the First United Methodist Church of Westmont; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his son, Brad Hammond; and

WHEREAS, Bill Hammond is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce; his daughter, Marina (Bill) Mayfield; his grandsons, William and Danny Murphy and Brandon Mayfield; and his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law in Canada and England; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Bill Hammond; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bill Hammond as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
