| WHEREAS, The gift of sight is one of our most valued |
| 3 |
| senses; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, Older Illinois residents are particularly |
| 5 |
| susceptible to loos of vision through age-related macular |
| 6 |
| degeneration, cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetes; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, With early detection and treatment, it is possible |
| 8 |
| to preserve sight for this older generation; and |
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, In 2010, EyeCare America will celebrate its 25th |
| 10 |
| anniversary; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Since its inception, EyeCare America has served |
| 12 |
| over 25,000 people in Illinois with 270 volunteer |
| 13 |
| ophthalmologists; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, More than 7,000 ophthalmologists volunteer to see |
| 15 |
| EyeCare America patients annually; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, People who are age 65 or older, who have not seen |
| 17 |
| an ophthalmologist in 3 or more years, may be eligible to |
| 18 |
| receive eye exams and care for up to one year at no cost to the |
| 19 |
| patient; therefore, be it
