SENATE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3
learn of the death of
Lyndell B. Melvin of Benton, who passed 
4
away on April 6, 2010; and
  
 
5
    WHEREAS, Lyndell Melvin was born on November 15, 1921, in 
6
West Frankfort; he was the son of Fred and Gladys Melvin; he 
7
married the former Mary Ellen Adams on October 26, 1946; and
  
 
8
    WHEREAS, Lyndell Melvin served his country with pride and 
9
distinction as a member of the United States Army during World 
10
War II; and
  
 
11
    WHEREAS, Lyndell Melvin was employed with the Plumbers and 
12
Pipefitters Union of West Frankfort; and
  
 
13
    WHEREAS, Lyndell Melvin was preceded in death by his 
14
parents and his brother, Gene Melvin; and
  
 
15
    WHEREAS, Lyndell Melvin is survived by his wife; his sons, 
16
Fred L. (Jolynn) Melvin, Jan L. (Melinda) Melvin, and Roger B. 
17
Melvin; his sisters, Maxine Jordan and Myrldean Leone; his 
18
brothers, Charles Melvin and Dean Melvin; his grandchildren, 
19
Christopher M. (Emma) Melvin, Patrick A. Melvin, Meranda (Seth) 
20
Tate, Mirya (Brandon) Smith, Angela Melvin, Alisha (Dan)

great-grandchildren; and his many nieces and nephews;

    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL 
5
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
6
his family and friends, the passing of Lyndell B. Melvin; and 
7
be it further
  
 
8
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9
presented to the family of Lyndell Melvin as an expression of 
10
our sympathy.
