| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of
Edward "Vince" Ambrose of Bloomington, |
| 4 |
| who passed away on April 12, 2010; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Edward Ambrose was born on April 3, 1922, in |
| 6 |
| Weston; he was the son of Charles L. and Fredericka "Freddy" |
| 7 |
| Wernsman Ambrose; he married Eloise Huth on November 11, 1949, |
| 8 |
| in Gibson City; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Edward Ambrose graduated from Fairbury High |
| 10 |
| School and attended Illinois State Normal University; he |
| 11 |
| enlisted in the United States Army on November 18, 1942, and |
| 12 |
| served with the 501st Parachute Infantry until his honorable |
| 13 |
| discharge as a staff sergeant on February 7, 1945; he graduated |
| 14 |
| from the Fort Benning parachute school and received carbine |
| 15 |
| sharpshooter, parachute, and glider badges; he was also a |
| 16 |
| member of the 501st Infantry "Jump Band", where he played |
| 17 |
| saxophone; he earned the American Theater Ribbon, the Good |
| 18 |
| Conduct Ribbon, the Victory Medal, and the Army Commendation |
| 19 |
| Ribbon for his service; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Edward Ambrose was employed as a construction |
| 21 |
| manager and kitchen design specialist; he was employed by the |
| 22 |
| West Side Lumber Company and later worked at the Brady Home |
|

| Center and WEB Construction; and
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Edward Ambrose enjoyed music and singing; he was |
| 3 |
| well known for his beautiful voice and loved to share his |
| 4 |
| talent everywhere he went; and |
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Edward Ambrose was a member of the Holy Trinity |
| 6 |
| Church in Bloomington, where he served as a cantor and sang in |
| 7 |
| the church choir; he was a past president of the Home Builders |
| 8 |
| Association and the Bloomington Jaycees; he was a member of the |
| 9 |
| American Legion, the BNAA, and the Prairie Aviation Museum; he |
| 10 |
| also served as a committee member of Boy Scout Troop 12 and |
| 11 |
| Cubmaster of Pack 55; and |
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Edward Ambrose was preceded in death by his |
| 13 |
| parents; his brother, Francis "Van" Ambrose; and his sister, |
| 14 |
| Barbara Kimble; and |
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Edward Ambrose is survived by his wife; his |
| 16 |
| children, Deborah (David) Decker, Charles Ambrose, David |
| 17 |
| (Judi) Ambrose, Paul (Robin) Ambrose, Mark (Eva) Ambrose, and |
| 18 |
| Steve (Valerie) Ambrose; his grandchildren, Vince Ambrose, |
| 19 |
| Melissa Schellenberg, Deann (fiance Nathan Karplus) Ambrose, |
| 20 |
| Audra (Daniel) Stolzoff, Donnie Ambrose, Walker Ambrose, |
| 21 |
| Elizabeth Ambrose, Reed Decker, Scott Decker, Nicole Ambrose, |
| 22 |
| Ben Ambrose, Michael Ambrose, Derek Ambrose, and Claire |

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL |

| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
| 7 |
| his family and friends, the passing of Edward "Vince" Ambrose; |
| 8 |
| and be it further
|
| 9 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 10 |
| presented to the family of Edward Ambrose as an expression of |
| 11 |
| our sympathy.
