| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of
Edward J. Powers of Sugar Grove, who |
| 4 |
| passed away on May 1, 2010; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Edward Powers was born on November 29, 1937 in |
| 6 |
| Albany, New York; he was raised in Oak Park and graduated from |
| 7 |
| Fenwick High School; he then graduated from St. Regis |
| 8 |
| University in Denver, Colorado with an economics degree; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, After fulfilling his military obligation, Edward |
| 10 |
| Powers joined Clow Corporation in Chicago, where he was |
| 11 |
| employed for 25 years; after being transferred for several |
| 12 |
| years around the Midwest, he settled his family in Aurora; in |
| 13 |
| 1985, he began his career as owner and president of PowerSeal |
| 14 |
| Pipeline, an internationally-recognized manufacturer of |
| 15 |
| pipeline fittings based in Wichita Falls, Texas; he remained |
| 16 |
| actively involved in PowerSeal until his death; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Edward Powers was an active member of Holy Angels |
| 18 |
| Parish for 30 years; he was a loyal supporter of Fenwick High |
| 19 |
| School, Marmion Academy, Rosary High School, and Catholic |
| 20 |
| education; he was a Prestbury board member for over 7 years and |
| 21 |
| a 50-year member of the American Water Works Association and |
| 22 |
| other industry related organizations; and
