| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 |
| learn of the death of John Eugene Fry of Naperville, who passed |
4 |
| away on May 8, 2010; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, John Fry was a lifelong Naperville resident; he |
6 |
| graduated from Naperville High School, where he was a champion |
7 |
| Trombone player; he attended North Central College; and he sang |
8 |
| in a men's octet that toured the western United States; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, He served as an Army medic in the Pacific Theater |
10 |
| during World War II and received a Bronze Star for his bravery; |
11 |
| after the war he married Laurabelle and they lived in Michigan |
12 |
| while he attended Cleary Business College; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, He co-founded Fry Brothers Realty with his two |
14 |
| brothers in the mid-1950s; the company built more than 3,000 |
15 |
| homes in the Naperville and Plainfield area; in the 1980s he |
16 |
| formed Fry Properties and went on to build the Tamarack Golf |
17 |
| Club and a subdivision with the same name; and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Fry was a member of the Knox Presbyterian |
19 |
| Church in Naperville and was a former president of the |
20 |
| Naperville Council of Churches; in retirement he wrote a |
21 |
| collection of short stories from his youth; and
