| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |

| learn of the death of Garrett James Smith of Oconee, who passed |
| 4 |
| away on May 15, 2010; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, He was born September 24, 1992 in Decatur, the son |
| 6 |
| of Ronald J. & Jodi Sarver Smith; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Garrett was a Junior at Pana High School, where he |
| 8 |
| was a member of the National Honor Society; he was also |
| 9 |
| involved in basketball, JFL football, intramural basketball, |
| 10 |
| and intramural volleyball; he was also a member of the Sacred |
| 11 |
| Heart Catholic Church, Oconee; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his niece, Ruth Elyse |
| 13 |
| Jones; his grandfather: Neil Fringer; his grandfather: Jerry |
| 14 |
| "Gene" Sarver; his great-grandfather, Clifford Smith; his |
| 15 |
| great-grandmother, Inez Manuel; and his cousin, Clayton |
| 16 |
| Cearlock; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Garrett Smith is survived by his parents, Ronald |
| 18 |
| and Jodi Smith; his sister, Lindsi Jones and her husband, |
| 19 |
| Justin; his brother, Eric; his grandparents, Jim and Betty |
| 20 |
| Smith and Iva Fringer; his great grandmother, Louise Smith; and |
| 21 |
| his nieces, Delayni Jones and a niece to arrive soon; |
