SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Arthur M. Johnson of Virden, who passed 
4away on May 30, 2010; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Arthur Johnson was born May 23, 1916, in Manson, 
6Iowa, the son of John and Clara (Wendt) Johnson; on September 
726, 1948, he married Audrey Peers in Manson; he was a graduate 
8of Manson High School; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 
10United States Army; after the war he farmed for many years in 
11Iowa; Mr. Johnson then worked as custodian for Manson High 
12School until he retired; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson was a member of the American Legion; 
14he enjoyed sports, fishing, and traveling; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his four 
16brothers, George, August, Richard, and Chris Johnson; and his 
17sister, Marie Kirchoff; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Arthur Johnson is survived by his wife, Audrey 
19Johnson; his daughter, Sally Johnson; his two grandsons, Justin 
20Johnson and Jason Johnson; his two great-grandsons; his

1great-granddaughter; his two great-great-granddaughters; and 
2his two nephews; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL 
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
5his family and friends, the passing of Arthur Johnson; and be 
6it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to the family of Arthur Johnson as a symbol of our 
9sincere sympathy.
