2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of David Chetham McKee of Aurora, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on May 19, 2010; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, He was a proud graduate of the University of | ||||||
6 | Illinois and began his professional career as President and | ||||||
7 | Chief Executive Officer of McKee Industries, Inc. in Aurora; he | ||||||
8 | then became President of Oberweis Dairy, Inc., and later | ||||||
9 | President of Anker Holdings Division of Furnas Electric | ||||||
10 | Company; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, After serving on the board of Copley Memorial | ||||||
12 | Hospital from 1986 until 1990, he became the President and | ||||||
13 | Chief Executive Officer of Rush Copley Medical Center; he held | ||||||
14 | this position until 2000 and retired in 2006 as Rush Copley | ||||||
15 | Medical Center Vice President of Special Projects; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Throughout his life, he served on numerous boards | ||||||
17 | and community organizations including as Senior Director of the | ||||||
18 | Old Second Bank Corporation, as Director of Fox Valley | ||||||
19 | Properties, as Director of Blackberry Hill Homeowners' | ||||||
20 | Association, as Director and Chairman of the Board of Copley | ||||||
21 | Memorial Hospital, as Vice President, President, and Trustee of | ||||||
22 | the IMSA Fund for the Advancement of Education, as Director and |

1 | Chairman of the Board of Greater Aurora Chamber of Commerce, as | ||||||
2 | a Policy Council Member of Illinois Hospital and HealthSystems | ||||||
3 | Association, as Director and Vice Chairman of the Valley | ||||||
4 | Industrial Association, as Director of the Aurora Economic | ||||||
5 | Development Commission, as Fundraising Chairman and Director | ||||||
6 | of the Aurora Area United Way, as Director of the Salvation | ||||||
7 | Army, as Director and Treasurer of the Aurora Area Convention | ||||||
8 | and Tourism Council, as Director of the Valley Political Action | ||||||
9 | Committee, and as Moderator at New England Congregational | ||||||
10 | Church; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace and | ||||||
12 | Theodore McKee; and his step-mother, Ethel McKee; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, David Chetham McKee is survived by Linda, his wife | ||||||
14 | of 43 years; his three children, Megan (John) Plain, Mindy | ||||||
15 | (Jim) White, and Matthew McKee (Kaitlin Varady); his five | ||||||
16 | grandchildren, Johnny, Grace, and Claire Plain, and Shannon and | ||||||
17 | Maggie White; and his brothers John (Gwen) McKee and Paul | ||||||
18 | McKee; therefore, be it
| ||||||
19 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | ||||||
20 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
21 | his family and friends, the passing of David Chetham McKee; and | ||||||
22 | be it further
