2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Richard Smith "Dick" Applegate of Peoria, |
4 | | who passed away on July 16, 2010; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, He was born on May 8, 1944, in Pekin, to H. Smith |
6 | | and Mary Shane Applegate; he married Paula Maddox in Peoria on |
7 | | October 22, 1983; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, He graduated from Richwoods High School in Peoria |
9 | | in 1962 and received his Bachelor of Music Education from |
10 | | Bradley University in 1966; he served as a music educator and |
11 | | choral director in central Illinois schools, most recently |
12 | | Peoria School District 150, retiring in 2005; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, For the past 26 years, he served as choir director |
14 | | for the Universalist Unitarian Church in Peoria; he was |
15 | | recognized throughout the area as a skilled performer on |
16 | | five-string banjo and also taught a number of private students; |
17 | | he was a founding member of Applegate and Company and a member |
18 | | of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia professional music fraternity; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Richard Applegate is survived by his wife, Paula; |
