SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3learn of the death of
George E. McCollum of Benton, who passed 
4away on July 11, 2010; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, George McCollum was born on December 21, 1921, in 
6Benton; he was the son of Tilman and Beulah (Isaacs) McCollum; 
7he married the former Catherine (Katy) Frasher on June 30, 
81946, in the First Baptist Church in Benton; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, George McCollum served his country with pride and 
10distinction as a member of the United States Army Air Forces 
11during World War II; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, George McCollum was the founder and co-owner of 
13McCollum Real Estate in Benton; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, George McCollum was a member of the Benton 
15American Legion and the VFW; he was also a 79-year member of 
16the First Baptist Church in Benton; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, George McCollum was preceded in death by his 
18parents; his stepfather, Harry Daniels; his wife; his sister, 
19Doris Seymour; and his brother, James (Ernie) McCollum; and

1    WHEREAS, George McCollum is survived by his daughter, Nancy 
2Mougey; his son, David McCollum; his grandchildren, Matt Mougey 
3and Mark Mougey and his wife, Rachel; his sister, Kathryn 
4Munday; and his several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL 
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
7his family and friends, the passing of George E. McCollum; and 
8be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to the family of George McCollum as an expression of 
11our sympathy.
