SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of U.S. Army Sergeant Jesse Richard Tilton
4of Long Creek, who passed away on July 16, 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Sgt. Jesse Tilton was born on December 14, 1986 in
6Decatur; he was the son of Julie A. Tilton; he attended Mt.
7Zion High School and went on to graduate from Lincoln Challenge
8Academy in Rantoul; he later attended Richland Community
9College; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Sgt. Jesse Tilton served his country with pride
11and distinction as a medic with the United States Army, serving
12in the 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th
13Brigade Combat Team of the 82nd Airborne Division out of Fort
14Bragg, North Carolina; he earned numerous awards and
15decorations for his service, including the Bronze Star, the
16Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement
17Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense
18Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign
19Star, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army
20Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the NATO Medal,
21and the Combat Medic Badge; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Sgt. Jesse Tilton was a member of the Long Creek

1United Methodist Church; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Sgt. Jesse Tilton was preceded in death by his
3aunt, Barbara Warner; his uncle, Gerald Tilton; and his
4maternal grandparents, Theodore and Kathryn Tilton; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Sgt. Jesse Tilton is survived by his mother, Julie
6A. Tilton-Magana and her husband, Javier; his aunts and uncles,
7James Tilton and his wife, Judy, Linda Isaac and her husband,
8Robert "Bob", Richard Tilton and his wife, Judy, and Sandra
9Muirheid and her husband, George; and his many cousins;
10therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
13his family and friends, the passing of Sergeant Jesse Richard
14Tilton; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Sgt. Jesse Tilton and
16his willingness to serve our country, which led to him making
17the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Sgt. Jesse Tilton as an expression
20of our sympathy.
