SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Raymond Edward Holloway, Village Clerk of 
4Romeoville, who passed away on August 19, 2010; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, He was the oldest of 10 children; he joined the 
6United States Marine Corps after high school and was stationed 
7in Okinawa, Japan; he was a veteran of the Vietnam War; and he 
8was a 2-year member of the American Legion; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Raymond and his wife, Bernice, moved to Romeoville 
10in 2001; they previously resided in Maywood, where they raised 
112 sons; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, He was elected to the position of Village Clerk in 
13May of 2005 and again in May of 2009; he retired from the 
14Valley View U365 School District as the Transportation 
15Education Coordinator; he also assisted the Transportation 
16Department in conducting workshops and training sessions 
17focusing on bus driver safety; and he proudly served on the 
18Transportation Improvement Committee; and
  
 
  
19    WHEREAS, Prior to his work with the Valley View School 
20District, he served for over 30 years in a 
21transportation-related series of careers, from driving in the

1Marine Corps to handling 18-wheel semi trucks; therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL 
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
4his family and friends, the passing of Raymond Holloway; and be 
5it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the family of Raymond Holloway as a symbol of our 
8sincere sympathy.
