2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Louis P. Farina, former Alderman in the |
4 | | City of Chicago, who passed away on August 11, 2010; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, He grew up in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of |
6 | | Chicago and was a graduate of Wells High School; he was a |
7 | | veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army |
8 | | Medical Corp; he was a proud recipient of the Purple Heart and |
9 | | the Bronze Star; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, He attended DePaul University and John Marshall |
11 | | Law School; he was Chicago's parking commissioner from 1961 to |
12 | | 1978 and a deputy commissioner at the Department of Streets and |
13 | | Sanitation from 1978 to 1980; he was also a real estate agent; |
14 | | and

15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Farina served as an alderman for three years, |
16 | | from 1980 to 1983, serving the 36th Ward; he later worked with |
17 | | the Safer Foundation, helping former inmates; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Louis Farina was the beloved husband of Rose, nee |
19 | | Torina; the devoted father of Philip (Kathleen), James (Rita), |
20 | | Richard (Patti), and Mark (Diane) Farina; and the fond |
21 | | grandfather of Lauren, Nicholas, Lisa, Olivia, Michael, Louis, |
