| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of
Carol Irene (Roy) Roach, who passed away |
| 4 | | on July 20, 2010; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Carol Roach was born on August 28, 1926, in |
| 6 | | Chicago; she was the daughter of August and Irene (Payse) Roy; |
| 7 | | she married John Thomas Roach at Our Savior Church in |
| 8 | | Jacksonville on December 29, 1947; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Carol Roach earned her bachelor's degree in speech |
| 10 | | pathology and audiology from MacMurray College in Jacksonville |
| 11 | | and her master's degree in speech pathology and audiology from |
| 12 | | the University of Illinois; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Carol Roach was employed as a speech pathologist |
| 14 | | and teacher prior to her career as a case manager with the |
| 15 | | Division of Specialized Care for Children at the University of |
| 16 | | Illinois of Chicago, where she worked until her retirement in |
| 17 | | 2008 at the age of 82; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Carol Roach was active in the Junior Service |
| 19 | | League, the Alton Children's Theatre, and the Easter Seals |
| 20 | | Society; she was also a longtime board member for the William |
| 21 | | BeDell ARC and a member of St. Mary's Parish in Alton for 58 |

| 1 | | years; and
|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Carol Roach was preceded in death by her parents, |
| 3 | | her husband, and her brother, Dr. Jack Roy; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Carol Roach is survived by her children and their |
| 5 | | spouses, Cheri and Don Spillman, Kevin Roach and his wife, |
| 6 | | Niamh Ring, John Michael "Mike" Roach, Brian and Barbra Roach, |
| 7 | | John Thomas "Chip" and Tammy Roach, Steven Roach, Patrick and |
| 8 | | Shelly Roach, Michelle Roach, and Todd Roach and Deborah |
| 9 | | Kardane; her grandchildren, Justin, Nathan, Travis, Ryan, |
| 10 | | Oscar, Katie, Anna, Dillon, Regan, Jennifer, Shaun, Gabrielle, |
| 11 | | Taylor, Cassidy, Brynn, Andrya, Max, Aria, Isaac, and Jordan; |
| 12 | | her 7 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Dr. Edward Roy; |
| 13 | | therefore, be it
|
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL |
| 15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
| 16 | | his family and friends, the passing of Carol Irene Roach; and |
| 17 | | be it further
|
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 19 | | presented to the family of Carol Roach as an expression of our |
| 20 | | sympathy.
