| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Raulin "Sonny" Wight, past president and |
| 4 | | CEO of Wight & Company, who passed away on August 21, 2010; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, He was born November 29, 1923, in Elgin and was a |
| 6 | | lifelong resident of Downers Grove; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, He was a 1941 graduate of Downers Grove High |
| 8 | | School; he served as an instructor in the United States Army at |
| 9 | | the end of World War II; he later received his bachelors degree |
| 10 | | in architecture from the University of Nebraska; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, He was very proud of his relationships with the |
| 12 | | Illinois State Toll Highway Authority and Pepperidge Farm, and |
| 13 | | of his role as a director of the Downers Grove National Bank; |
| 14 | | and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, He served as president of Wight & Company until |
| 16 | | the late 1980s, and he will be remembered most for his work at |
| 17 | | Triton Community College and at the College of DuPage where, |
| 18 | | under his tenure, the firm designed the Harold McAninch Fine |
| 19 | | Arts Center and the Physical Education Center; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Raulin Wight Jr. is survived by his wife and |
