| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Alexander B. Pratt, Sr. of Englewood, who |
| 4 | | recently passed away; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, He was born on May 4, 1929 in Chicago, to the late |
| 6 | | Albert Pratt, Sr. and Alma Pratt; he grew up in the Ida B. |
| 7 | | Wells Home and was educated in the Chicago Public School |
| 8 | | system, attended Forestville Elementary School, and graduated |
| 9 | | from Dunbar Trade School in 1947; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, He accepted Christ at an early age; he served in |
| 11 | | the United States Army during the Korean War; he received an |
| 12 | | Honorable Discharge in 1955 and was ranked a Corporal; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, He and his wife, Shirley, were united in matrimony |
| 14 | | on July 3, 1954; he later worked for the United States Postal |
| 15 | | Service, retiring in 1984; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, He served as a member of the 73rd and 74th Street |
| 17 | | block club for over 40 years and as a member of the George L. |
| 18 | | Giles Post #87; he was also involved with the Dunbar's Old |
| 19 | | Timer Club & Dunbar's Alumni Association, the 7th District CAPS |
| 20 | | Crime Stoppers and Steering Committee, and the 17th Ward Senior |
| 21 | | Advisory Committee; he volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Open |
