|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Marion O'Connor of Naples and Hollywood, |
4 | | Florida, formerly of Elgin and Huntley, who passed away on |
5 | | October 1, 2010; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, She was born November 9, 1916 in Elgin; in July of |
7 | | 2010 she moved to Hollywood, Florida; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, She was a graduate of St. Mary Elementary and |
9 | | Elgin High; she, with her husband and in-laws, operated the |
10 | | O'Connor Funeral Home in Elgin from 1940 to 1984; she worked |
11 | | for the Elgin Watch Company and the Elgiloy Corporation; she |
12 | | was also employed at Joseph Spiess Department Store and |
13 | | Collingbourne Mills as a bookkeeper and model for their fashion |
14 | | catalogues in the 1930s; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, She will be remembered for her selflessness, |
16 | | independence, and genuine frankness all enhanced by wit and |
17 | | sense of humor; these qualities came through in golf and |
18 | | tennis, expertise at card games and rummikub, adeptness at |
19 | | hosting parties, and the chocolate chip cookies that delighted |
20 | | three generations of her offspring; she was a founding member |
21 | | of the St. Joseph Junior Hospital League, Nouveau Speculators, |
22 | | and the Elgin Golferettes; and

1 | | WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph |
2 | | and Mathilda Ciraulo; her husband, William; her sister, |
3 | | Margaret Becklinger; and her Division Street family, Lawrence |
4 | | and Mildred O'Connor, Kathleen Martino, and Sharon Safar; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, She is survived by three sons, Barrett (Darlene) |
6 | | O'Connor, Kevin, and Kerry (Linda). Also surviving are her |
7 | | seven grandchildren, Kelly (Larry) Lebedun, Sean (Amy) |
8 | | O'Connor, Erin (David) Madden, Brian O'Connor, Keli (Jason) |
9 | | Nitschke, Nicholas O'Connor and Mark O'Connor; and 15 |
10 | | great-grandchildren, Jackson, Delaney, Riley, Spencer, Jordyn, |
11 | | Abby, Sarah, David, Madison, Hannah, McKenzie, Sydney, Kate, |
12 | | Violet and Jack. Also surviving are her sister, JoJean |
13 | | (Malbert) Middlesworth; her caregiver Amy Sakhiya; and many |
14 | | cousins, nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL |
16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
17 | | her family and friends, the passing of Marion O'Connor; and be |
18 | | it further

19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
20 | | presented to the family of Marion O'Connor as a symbol of our |
21 | | sincere sympathy.
