| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of
Samuel G. Mancuso, who passed away on | ||||||
| 4 | October 19, 2010; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Samuel Mancuso was born on September 28, 1949, in | ||||||
| 6 | Pasadena, California; his parents were the late Samuel and | ||||||
| 7 | Evelyn Mancuso; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Samuel Mancuso graduated from Joliet East High | ||||||
| 9 | School, Augustana College, Loyola University, Roosevelt | ||||||
| 10 | University, and Northwestern University; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Samuel Mancuso served as the President and CEO of | ||||||
| 12 | United Cerebral Palsy Illinois Prairieland since 2003 and | ||||||
| 13 | considered it to be a rewarding and exciting career; he also | ||||||
| 14 | served as an adjunct instructor at Joliet Junior College and as | ||||||
| 15 | an instructor at the University of Saint Francis; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Samuel Mancuso was a member and past President of | ||||||
| 17 | the Joliet Rotary Club, a member and past President of the | ||||||
| 18 | American Lung Association of Northern Illinois, a past board | ||||||
| 19 | chair and member of the Provena St. Joseph Medical Center | ||||||
| 20 | Foundation, and a board member of the Joliet Catholic Academy; | ||||||
| 21 | he was also a member of St. John Lutheran Church and numerous | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | other organizations; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Samuel Mancuso loved being a father and | ||||||
| 3 | grandfather and strived to bring opportunities to the children | ||||||
| 4 | and adults who were a part of the UCP family; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Samuel Mancuso is preceded in death by his wife, | ||||||
| 6 | Candace (Staley) Mancuso; his parents; his mother-in-law, | ||||||
| 7 | Martha Staley; and numerous aunts and uncles; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Samuel Mancuso is survived by his children, | ||||||
| 9 | Vanessa (Mark) Schmitt and Joshua and Andrew Mancuso; his | ||||||
| 10 | grandson, Maximilian Samuel Schmitt; his father-in-law, Thomas | ||||||
| 11 | Staley; his brother-in-law, Michael Staley; his aunts, Rose and | ||||||
| 12 | Josephine Mancuso and Toni Hayes; his uncle, Dominic Mancuso; | ||||||
| 13 | his nieces, Carrie (Corey) Hromek and Lauren (Eddie) Ferry; and | ||||||
| 14 | his numerous cousins and friends; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
| 17 | his family and friends, the passing of Samuel G. Mancuso; and | ||||||
| 18 | be it further
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 20 | presented to the family of Samuel Mancuso as an expression of | ||||||
| 21 | our sympathy.
