| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of
Walter R. Seegren, who passed away on |
| 4 | | August 3, 2010; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Walter Seegren was born on August 6, 1928, in |
| 6 | | Chicago; after graduating from Senn High School, he met Eleanor |
| 7 | | Stohl, his wife of 58 years, at Wright Junior College; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Walter Seegren began designing and building homes |
| 9 | | in 1950, but was soon drafted into the United States Army to |
| 10 | | serve in Korea; in 1956, he and his wife moved to Winthrop |
| 11 | | Harbor, where he continued his career by building homes along |
| 12 | | Lake Michigan; he subsequently built a series of apartment |
| 13 | | buildings and complexes along Sunset and Golf Roads in |
| 14 | | Waukegan, as well as many custom homes and office buildings; he |
| 15 | | was also instrumental in the building of the Sunset House |
| 16 | | Restaurant, the Oakwood Racquet Club, and the Bonnie Brook |
| 17 | | Baptist Church, of which he and his wife were founding members; |
| 18 | | in later years, he was a commercial realtor with Century |
| 19 | | 21-Maki United and designed and built numerous custom room |
| 20 | | additions, decks, and gazebos; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Walter Seegren was an avid sportsman who played |
| 22 | | softball in Waukegan church leagues and basketball at the YMCA; |
