| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of
Felix Mazur, who passed away on August |
| 4 | | 21, 2010; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Felix Mazur was born on April 17, 1939, in |
| 6 | | Stamford, Connecticut; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Felix Mazur served in the United States Navy as an |
| 8 | | officer and a gunner during the Vietnam War; he was an advocate |
| 9 | | throughout his life for the equitable administration of |
| 10 | | veterans' benefits and was honored by several professional |
| 11 | | associations for his work; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Felix Mazur served as Vice Chairman on the Amateur |
| 13 | | Athletic Union Volleyball Executive Committee and was the |
| 14 | | former commissioner of Region 7 (Great Lakes) in the USA |
| 15 | | Volleyball Association; the AAU recently started the annual |
| 16 | | Phil Mazur Award in recognition of truly dedicated volleyball |
| 17 | | officials; he also volunteered for Midwest Young Artists, where |
| 18 | | he helped coordinate events and served as a mentor for the |
| 19 | | young musicians; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Felix Mazur was preceded in death by his parents, |
| 21 | | Felix and Agnus, and his brother, Charles; and
