2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of
U.S. Marine Corps Lance Corporal James |
4 | | Bray Stack of Arlington Heights, who was killed in the line of |
5 | | duty on November 10, 2010, in the Sangin District of Helmand |
6 | | Province, Afghanistan; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, James Bray Stack was born on July 11, 1990, in |
8 | | Schaumburg; his parents were Robert Bruce and Linda Lorraine |
9 | | Stack; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, James Bray Stack was a nationally ranked |
11 | | competitive shooter and the 2008 Junior Olympics Gold Medalist |
12 | | for Air Pistol; he was a member of the Arlington International |
13 | | Airgun Club; he also played soccer at Christian Liberty Academy |
14 | | and was named Most Valuable Player on the school's track team; |
15 | | and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, James Bray Stack served as a rifleman with India |
17 | | Company (2nd Platoon) of the "Darkhorse" 3rd Battalion, 5th |
18 | | Marine Regiment with the 1st Marine Division of the I Marine |
19 | | Expeditionary Force in Camp Pendleton, California; and |
20 | | WHEREAS, James Bray Stack was the recipient of numerous |
21 | | awards for his service, including the Purple Heart, the Combat |

1 | | Action Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global |
2 | | War on Terrorism Medal, and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal; and

3 | | WHEREAS, James Bray Stack was preceded in death by his |
4 | | grandmother, Lorraine Bray, and his grandfather, Robert Lee |
5 | | Stack; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, James Bray Stack is survived by his wife, Katie; |
7 | | his daughter, Mikayla Lorraine; his parents, Robert and Linda |
8 | | Stack; his sister, Megan Lorraine Stack; his grandparents, Jo |
9 | | Ann Stack and Gene Bray; his mother-in-law, Dawn (Tom) Hedrick; |
10 | | his sister-in-law, Joanne Savage; his wife's grandmother, |
11 | | Eleanor Savage; and his father-in-law, Michael Landeweer; |
12 | | therefore, be it

13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL |
14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
15 | | his family and friends, the passing of Lance Corporal James |
16 | | Bray Stack; and be it further
