1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Helen J. Anderson of Hinsdale, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on November 7, 2010; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, She was extremely proud of her family and her | ||||||
6 | Welsh heritage; she was smart, creative, and had a quick wit; | ||||||
7 | she often referred to herself and her husband as "a good team"; | ||||||
8 | her husband frequently announced that she was "the prettiest | ||||||
9 | bride of the 50's", a good wife, and a superb writer; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, She was born and raised in the Chicago area, and | ||||||
11 | later attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison as her | ||||||
12 | father had before her; she was a member of the Alpha Gamma | ||||||
13 | Delta sorority and graduated with a degree in journalism; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, She was an accomplished journalist and managing | ||||||
15 | editor of 2 national publications, "Small Homes Guide" and | ||||||
16 | "Home Modernizing"; she also worked as a freelance travel and | ||||||
17 | feature writer for the Chicago Tribune for many years; one of | ||||||
18 | her proudest accomplishments was to have one of her travel | ||||||
19 | stories on France on the cover of the travel section of the | ||||||
20 | Chicago Tribune; and | ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, She believed in doing research for her stories the |

1 | "old fashioned way" by going to the library and talking to | ||||||
2 | people as opposed to using the Internet; she loved traveling | ||||||
3 | with her family and enjoyed painting and writing poetry; she | ||||||
4 | was very generous and contributed annually to many | ||||||
5 | organizations, including the Union Church of Hinsdale, where | ||||||
6 | she had been a Sunday school teacher, and the Rush University | ||||||
7 | Medical Center, where she, like her mother, had served on the | ||||||
8 | Women's Board; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents, Maldwyn | ||||||
10 | L. and Catherine P. Jones; and her sister, Marian J. Hansen; | ||||||
11 | and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, She was the loving wife for 57 years of Alan | ||||||
13 | Frederick Anderson; the beloved mother of Cathy L. Anderson and | ||||||
14 | Nancy J. Anderson; and the fond aunt of Catherine A. and David | ||||||
15 | J. Hansen; therefore, be it

16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | ||||||
17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
18 | her family and friends, the passing of Helen Anderson; and be | ||||||
19 | it further

20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
21 | presented to the family of Helen Anderson as a symbol of our | ||||||
22 | sincere sympathy.
