SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3learn of the death of
James L. McCabe of Arlington Heights, who 
4passed away on November 23, 2010; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, James McCabe was born on July 11, 1931, in 
6Chicago; his parents were Leroy James and Mary (nee Fleming) 
7McCabe; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, James McCabe was a 1954 graduate of DePaul 
9University, where he played basketball under legendary coach 
10Ray Meyer; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, James McCabe served his country with pride and 
12distinction as a member of the United States Army during the 
13Korean War; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, James McCabe was a retired attorney and former 
15partner of McCabe and Venit in Chicago; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, James McCabe coached numerous youth sports in 
17Arlington Heights; he was also a longtime active member and 
18lector at Our Lady of the Wayside Church; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, James McCabe was preceded in death by his parents;

2    WHEREAS, James McCabe is survived by his wife, Mary Kay 
3(nee Sullivan), whom he married on September 20, 1958; his 
4children, James E. (Elaine) McCabe, Ann M. Tovella, Carol M. 
5(Dan) Zielinski, Robert J. (Mary) McCabe, John P. (Virginia) 
6McCabe, Jeanne M. (Mike) Borta, and Marilyn A. McCabe; and his 
7grandchildren, Kelly, Brian, Kyle, Sarah, Daniel, David, 
8Timothy, Robert Emmet, Maggie, Ellie, Jack, Matt, Will, Molly, 
9Charlie, and Sam; therefore, be it
  
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL 
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
12his family and friends, the passing of James L. McCabe; and be 
13it further
  
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15presented to the family of James McCabe as an expression of our 
16sympathy.
