| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Gary N. Paulson of Edwards, who passed |
| 4 | | away on December 29, 2010; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, He was born on July 15, 1941, in Peoria, to Archie |
| 6 | | L. and Alice (Nelson) Paulson; he married Marjorie Gerber on |
| 7 | | April 3, 1966, in Morton; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, He was a graduate of Woodruff High School and |
| 9 | | received a bachelor's degree in accounting from Bradley |
| 10 | | University; he worked for Caterpillar Inc. for 38 years, last |
| 11 | | as a senior analyst, before retiring in 2003; after retirement, |
| 12 | | he worked for several of the Peoria Park District golf courses; |
| 13 | | and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, He became an Eagle Scout in 1955 and was a Scout |
| 15 | | leader for many years; he coached various teams for his sons; |
| 16 | | he was inducted into the Woodruff High School Hall of Fame in |
| 17 | | 1993 and into the Greater Peoria Sports Hall of Fame in 2001; |
| 18 | | and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, He was the owner and operator of Dipper Dan for |
| 20 | | several years; he volunteered for Glen Oak School, the |
| 21 | | Salvation Army, and the American Red Cross; in 2004 he received |
|

| 1 | | the Volunteer of the Year award for A.R.C.; he was a member of |
| 2 | | the Woodruff Alumni Association and was treasurer for several |
| 3 | | years; he was also a volunteer for the Friends of the Children |
| 4 | | of Haiti and went on six medical mission trips to Haiti after |
| 5 | | his retirement; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, He was a lifetime member of Grace Presbyterian |
| 7 | | Church and volunteered in the 3-year-olds class, and was a |
| 8 | | former co-superintendent in the 4-year-old department for |
| 9 | | several years; he was a loving husband, father, and PaPa, who |
| 10 | | enjoyed golf, was an avid sports fan, and loved spending time |
| 11 | | with his grandchildren and attending their various functions; |
| 12 | | and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; and one |
| 14 | | brother, Doug Paulson; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Gary Paulson is survived by his wife, Marjorie; |
| 16 | | his children, Andy (Jen) Paulson, Julie Paulson, and Kevin |
| 17 | | (Melissa) Paulson; his grandchildren, Baylen, Callie, Kahler, |
| 18 | | and Archie Paulson; and one niece and one nephew; therefore, be |
| 19 | | it
|
| 20 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL |
| 21 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
| 22 | | his family and friends, the passing of Gary Paulson; and be it |
