SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jerry D. Reece of Normal, who passed away
4on December 13, 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born October 23, 1932, in Milan, Missouri,
6the son of John L. and Mary Irene Frazier Reece; he married
7Sonja Ann Kerr on May 22, 1959, in Kansas City, Missouri; he
8was a graduate of Northeast Missouri State/Truman State
9University; he was a staff sergeant in the United States Air
10Force, assigned to Tactical Air Command; he served in England
11during the Korean War and continued to stay active in the Air
12Force Reserve after the war; he was recalled to active duty
13during the Berlin Wall crisis and was stationed at Richards
14Gebaur Air Force Base during that time; and
 
15    WHEREAS, He enjoyed flying and was a flight instructor for
16many years; he was the owner/operator of an industrial
17sharpening business and retired in 1998; he then became an
18active volunteer at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, serving as
19a patient escort and tour guide; he was also an active member
20and a past president of Mended Hearts; and
 
21    WHEREAS, He was a regular at Cracker Barrel in Bloomington
22and for over 10 years could be found there daily for lunch; he

1loved to travel and in recent years visited Australia, New
2Zealand, Egypt, Israel, China, Japan, Thailand, Spain, Great
3Britain, Canada, Alaska, and Estonia; he loved spending time
4with his family, especially his grandchildren, and enjoyed
5attending and videotaping their many activities; and
 
6    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents and one
7brother, James L. Reece; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Jerry Reece is survived by his wife; his son, Jay
9Donnley (Pamela S.) Reece; and his grandchildren, Eric James
10Reece and Alicia Renee Reece; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
13his family and friends, the passing of Jerry Reece; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Jerry Reece as a symbol of our
17sincere sympathy.
