SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William J. Corrigan, who passed away on
4December 30, 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, William Corrigan was born on March 24, 1919; he
6was the son of Peter and Elizabeth (Reyland) Corrigan; he
7married the former Rosemary Kamp on August 10, 1943; he was
8dedicated to his family, many friends, and the community of
9Wood River, where he was a lifelong resident; and
 
10    WHEREAS, William Corrigan attended St. Bernard's Grade
11School and graduated from Wood River High School in 1937; and
 
12    WHEREAS, William Corrigan worked at Modern Plumbing and
13Heating in East Alton and was a member of the Sheet Metal
14Workers Local #268 for over 30 years; for the last several
15years, he worked for the City of Wood River at the Fourteenth
16Street City Yard, where he retired in September of 2010; and
 
17    WHEREAS, William Corrigan was an active participant in
18local civic and political associations for many years; he
19served as Precinct 4 Committeeman for 20 years and was elected
20to serve as Wood River Tax Collector in 1970; he was also
21recognized in 1969 for his contribution to the successful

1passage of the bond issue to build Belk Park Golf Course; and
 
2    WHEREAS, William Corrigan was the Wood River City Chairman
3of the Easter Seal Society; he was a former board member of the
4Society for Crippled Children and a former Grand Knight of the
5Wood River Council of the Knights of Columbus; in recent years,
6he provided the Wood River History Museum with information for
7their records; and
 
8    WHEREAS, William Corrigan was preceded in death by his
9wife; his parents; and his siblings, Charles Corrigan, Bernard
10Corrigan, Freida Sweetin, and Dorothy Wallace; and
 
11    WHEREAS, William Corrigan is survived by his children and
12daughters-in-law, Richard and Glenda (Davis) Corrigan, Pamela
13Corrigan Batson, and Thomas and Jonie (Goeken) Corrigan; his
14grandchildren, Jenny, Suzette, Richie, Paul, Craig, Katie, and
15Claire; his 6 great-grandchildren; and his 2
16great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
19his family and friends, the passing of William J. Corrigan; and
20be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
