SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marvel J. LeVora of Carlinville, who passed away on November 26, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Marvel J. LeVora was born on April 1, 1925 in Carlinville, the son of Jacob Matthew and Lela Ann (Morehead) LeVora; he married Norma Griffiths in Little Rock, Arkansas on February 14, 1950; and

WHEREAS, He joined the Army and served during World War II; he started his driving career as a self-employed truck driver hauling livestock and commodities; he later was offered a job driving for Starr Brothers Inc. in Carlinville and was employed until 1975, when he accepted a job with Prairie Farms Dairy, where he worked as a general laborer until his retirement in 1985; and

WHEREAS, He was known for his love of fishing and enjoyed delivering cars to various dealerships in Illinois and surrounding states after retirement; he was a member of Saints Mary and Joseph Catholic Church and the Guy Baird American Legion Post #554; he had a past membership in the Carlinville Elk's Lodge #1412; and he served as the past President of the Macoupin Club; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his granddaughter, Christy Lynne LeVora; and

WHEREAS, Marvel LeVore is survived by his sons, Thomas A. LeVora (Peggy), Gerald W. "Jerry" LeVora Sr. (Angie), and John M. LeVora (Susan A.); his daughter, Kelley Philpott; his 5 grandchildren; his 5 great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Eileen Ryan and Marie Burke of Carlinville; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Marvel LeVora; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marvel LeVora as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
