| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of
Joe M. Johnson, who passed away on |
| 4 | | December 24, 2010; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Joe Johnson was born in Louisville, Kentucky; he |
| 6 | | was the son of Martin and Lucille Johnson; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, After graduating from Truman State University in |
| 8 | | northeast Missouri, Joe Johnson spent 4 years coaching and |
| 9 | | teaching high school in the Ozarks before moving to Palatine; |
| 10 | | and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Joe Johnson established a successful track |
| 12 | | program over the course of 30 years at Palatine High School, |
| 13 | | where, under his leadership, numerous students became |
| 14 | | individual State champions and 12 teams advanced to the |
| 15 | | Illinois High School Association State meets; his 1981 cross |
| 16 | | country team finished 2nd in the state; he was inducted into |
| 17 | | the Palatine High School Athletic Hall of Fame and the Illinois |
| 18 | | Track and Cross Country Coaches' Hall of Fame in honor of his |
| 19 | | many accomplishments in track and field; in 1992, Joe retired |
| 20 | | from his career and moved to Tucson, Arizona with his loving |
| 21 | | wife, Andrea Meskan Johnson; and |
