|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Michael Allan Zippay Sr. of Mt. Olive, |
4 | | who passed away on January 1, 2011; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, He was born on August 17, 1933 in White City to |
6 | | the late Michael Albert Zippay and the late Annabelle Busonic; |
7 | | he married Donna Kay Roehl on February 27, 1960; he attended |
8 | | White City Grade School and Mt. Olive High School, graduating |
9 | | in 1951; he also attended Southern Illinois University in |
10 | | Carbondale for 2 years; he also served in the United States |
11 | | Army; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, He served as the Macoupin County Treasurer from |
13 | | 1970 to 1994; he also worked for the State of Illinois |
14 | | Department of Public Safety; he sold insurance and real estate |
15 | | for many years and was currently the co-owner of Zip's Perk |
16 | | Restaurant in Mt. Olive; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, He was a member of the Macoupin County Board from |
18 | | 1995 to his passing; he was a Mt. Olive Precinct Committeeman |
19 | | for 56 years; he was a former President of the Illinois |
20 | | Treasurers Association; he was a member of Croation Lodge #217 |
21 | | in Benld; he was a former Mt. Olive volunteer fireman; he was a |
22 | | member of the Staunton Knights of Columbus; he was a life |

1 | | member of the Mt. Olive Turner Hall and the Yurkovich-Beck |
2 | | American Legion Post #594 in Mt. Olive; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, He enjoyed baseball, playing in high school and in |
4 | | the Army; he played one year in the minor leagues for the Mt. |
5 | | Vernon Kings and the Mattoon Indians; he played in the 3M |
6 | | League for White City; and he played first base for the Mt. |
7 | | Olive Turner Hall Kittenball Team; and |
8 | | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents and his |
9 | | wife, Donna; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Michael Allan Zippay Sr. is survived by his son, |
11 | | Michael Allan (Sandy) Zippay Jr.; his daughters, Michele |
12 | | Zippay, Mary (Mark) Subick, and Melinda Zippay; his grandsons, |
13 | | Michael Allan (fiance, Jennifer Spudich) Zippay III, Mitchell |
14 | | Zippay, Colin Subick, and Dylan Zippay; his granddaughters, |
15 | | Tiffany Zippay and Jenna Subick; and his sister, Lavaughn |
16 | | (Marvin) Welge; therefore, be it

17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL |
18 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
19 | | his family and friends, the passing of Michael Allan Zippay |
20 | | Sr.; and be it further
