SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Alice Mae Johnson of Chicago, who passed
4away on January 2, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, She was born on December 4, 1926 to William Mathew
6Wadley and Maude (Woods) Wadley in Chicago; and
 
7    WHEREAS, She attended DuSable High School; she later
8married Joseph Jay Johnson; from this union, they had five boys
9and one girl; and
 
10    WHEREAS, She worked at Campbell Soup, Montgomery Ward, and
11the Chicago Housing Authority, and participated in many
12different civic activities and service organizations; she
13received many awards from the School Board, Parent Club, and
14Bingo Committee; and
 
15    WHEREAS, She sang in her church choir and played an active
16role for St. Joseph Parish and elementary school; she loved and
17was loved by everyone who knew her; she remembered everyone's
18special occasions with a phone call, card, or a personal gift;
19she prepared holiday dinners, inviting family to enjoy games
20and laughter; and she loved reminiscing; and

1    WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents; her
2husband; and her siblings, Ruth, William Jr., Bernice, and
3Edith; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Alice Mae Johnson is survived by her children,
5Jerrry (Sharon), Joseph (Niva), Michael, William, Phillip
6(Idalis), and Valerie; her many grandchildren; her many
7great-grandchildren; her sister, Dorothy Wadley; her brother,
8Carl Wadley; her many nieces and nephews; and a host of
9relatives and friends; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
12her family and friends, the passing of Alice Mae Johnson; and
13be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Alice Mae Johnson as a symbol of our
16sincere sympathy.
