| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Alice Mae Johnson of Chicago, who passed |
| 4 | | away on January 2, 2011; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, She was born on December 4, 1926 to William Mathew |
| 6 | | Wadley and Maude (Woods) Wadley in Chicago; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, She attended DuSable High School; she later |
| 8 | | married Joseph Jay Johnson; from this
union, they had five boys |
| 9 | | and one girl; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, She worked at Campbell Soup, Montgomery Ward, and |
| 11 | | the
Chicago Housing Authority, and participated in many |
| 12 | | different civic activities and service organizations; she |
| 13 | | received many awards from the School Board, Parent Club, and |
| 14 | | Bingo
Committee; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, She sang in her church choir and played an
active |
| 16 | | role for St. Joseph Parish and elementary school; she loved and |
| 17 | | was loved by everyone who knew her; she remembered everyone's |
| 18 | | special occasions with a phone call, card, or a personal gift; |
| 19 | | she prepared holiday dinners, inviting family to enjoy games |
| 20 | | and laughter; and she loved reminiscing; and
