SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of
the death of Edward J. "Doc" McCartan, who passed away 
4on January 8, 2011; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Edward McCartan was a veteran of World War II (Iwo 
6Jima) and the Korean War, having served in the United States

7Navy, Marines, and Air Force; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Edward McCartan was a dedicated public servant; he 
9was elected to serve as a Village of Romeoville Trustee
from 
101971 to 1975 and from 1995 until his passing; he also served on 
11the Village's
Planning and Zoning Commission, Economic 
12Development Commission, and on many
community service 
13organization boards; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Edward McCartan was a Doctor of Chiropractic 
15Medicine since 1957; he was also employed as an Export Manager 
16for
Sunbeam Incorporated until his retirement in 1983 after 35 
17years of service; and

  
 
18    WHEREAS, Edward McCartan is survived by his wife, Ruth 
19McCartan; his daughters, Colleen
(Michael) Tacchia, Sharon 
20(Raymond) Bruemmer, Pattie (James) Holloway, and Sheila

21(Ronald) Brewer; his sons, Kevin (Maryann) McCartan and Brian

1McCartain; and
his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 
2therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL 
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
5his family and friends, the passing of Edward
 J. "Doc" 
6McCartan; and be it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to the family of Edward McCartan as an expression of 
9our sympathy.
