| 1 | | AN ACT concerning transportation.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the |
| 5 | | Cellular Phone Use and Automobile Accidents Reporting Act.
|
| 6 | | Section 5. Police reports to include information on cell |
| 7 | | phone use as cause of accident. State, county, and municipal |
| 8 | | law enforcement personnel shall include in their police reports |
| 9 | | of automobile accidents information pertaining to whether an |
| 10 | | accident involved the use of a cellular phone.

| 11 | | Section 10. Department of Transportation to report to |
| 12 | | General Assembly. The Department of Transportation shall |
| 13 | | request from State, county, and municipal law enforcement |
| 14 | | agencies statistics on the use of cellular phones leading to |
| 15 | | automobile accidents over a two-year period beginning January |
| 16 | | 1, 2013 and ending December 31, 2014, and report the findings |
| 17 | | to the General Assembly no later than October 1, 2015.
