| 1 | | AN ACT concerning local government.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Section 11-13-22 as follows:
|

| 7 | | Sec. 11-13-22. Public hearing procedures for |
| 8 | | municipalities of less than 500,000. In a municipality of less |
| 9 | | than 500,000 inhabitants, the corporate authorities may adopt |
| 10 | | or authorize the zoning board of appeals and any other board, |
| 11 | | commission, or committee that conducts public hearings under |
| 12 | | this Division to adopt rules of procedures governing those |
| 13 | | public hearings. The rules of procedures may concern |
| 14 | | participation in public hearings and the participants' rights |
| 15 | | to cross examine witnesses, to compel the attendance of |
| 16 | | witnesses, and to present testimony and evidence, and any other |
| 17 | | relevant matter.

| 18 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 19 | | becoming law.
