| 1 | | AN ACT concerning government.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The State Designations Act is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Section 213 as follows: |
| 6 | | (5 ILCS 460/213 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 213. Honorary designations; payment of costs by State. |
| 8 | | The non-trivial costs associated with the production and |
| 9 | | installation of an honorary memorial, monument, plaque, sign, |
| 10 | | or similar item, including those costs arising as a result of |
| 11 | | the passage of a resolution or joint resolution of the Illinois |
| 12 | | House of Representatives calling for the production or |
| 13 | | installation of such an item, shall not be paid by the State |
| 14 | | unless (i) a law passed by the General Assembly expressly |
| 15 | | provides for the payment of those costs by the State or (ii) |
| 16 | | the person being honored has by gift or bequest made a donation |
| 17 | | that is being recognized by the production and installation of |
| 18 | | that item. |
| 19 | | The Honorary Designation Fund is created as a special fund |
| 20 | | in the State Treasury. The State Treasurer may accept payment |
| 21 | | of the costs associated with the production and installation of |
| 22 | | an honorary memorial, monument, plaque, sign, or similar item |
| 23 | | from an honoree or his or her agent. The State Treasurer shall |
