| 4 | | 3, on page 1, line 9, after "schools", by inserting "without |
| 5 | | the required 30-day notification"; and

| 6 | | on page 1, line 12, after "limit.", by inserting "For purposes |
| 7 | | of this Section, "emergency situation" means construction or |
| 8 | | maintenance activity which either requires a significant |
| 9 | | increase in the amount of traffic passing by a school or |
| 10 | | requires the re-routing of school children to another roadway. |
| 11 | | The temporary speed limit shall revert back to the original |
| 12 | | speed limit at the termination of the emergency situation, |
| 13 | | unless required engineering or traffic investigations justify |
| 14 | | permanent adoption of the temporary speed limit.".
